Is the 600 diesel and gas the same. If not what are the differences. How does the 600's compare with the 700's, 800's and 900's?

Further to your question...the 600 and the 900b would be compatible. One other thing...are you asking about the 600 or the 600b as these are completely different tractors?

The 700b and the 800b are a totally different transmission and rear end from the 600!! The gas and diesel versions of the 600 would have the same tranny/rearend

The main differences come in these examples. You must put gas in the fuel tank if it has a carburetor. If it has injectors instead of spark plugs, then use diesel fuel. They are NOT interchangeable. Also, the diesel will be a little more difficult to start in cold weather. The diesel has no choke, but probably has a manifold heater.( Just kidding, and playing on my polish heritage) The gas version usually had a few more horsepower. Partially because the engine ran a few more rpm. The gas models of almost all Case tractors also had a little smaller displacement than the diesel versions.. But remember, the diesel had twice or more engine hour life, if, it was properly maintained. Your welcome

I guess I should clarify, is the transmission, rearend, etc. the same, just a different engine? Do you know if the 700 and 800 use the same transmission and rearend as the 600?

The 600 diesel had a six speed hand cluch (same as 900). The 700 had an eight speed with high and low range on one lever (meaning messed up gear patteren), same as 400 diesel round nose. 800"s were same as 700 and 400 BUT with Case-O-Matic trans, completely different trans. As far as your question, 600 vs 700 vs 800 trans, they are all different!
