I have a 68 830 ck com. The right side head assembly, on the auxiliary valve, started leaking at the top where it joins the valve assembly. I'm sure it's the gasket. It's not a big leak, but with the pressure in it, it pumps the fluid out pretty quick. I have a service manual and could take the whole aux valve assy off and replace all of the seals and gaskets, but dont have the time right now. I was wondering if the head could be removed and the gasket replaced without removing the whole valve assembly from the tractor. I just need to buy some time until I can park it and go through the whole valve assy. I appreciate any info that will help make this work.

Thanks, I"ll give the grease a try. If it doesn"t work I"ll just have to find the time to take the assy off. I can"t complain it"s a good tractor and I haven"t had many problems with it.

Use some grease to hod the balls in place if you are attempting to this with the valve body still on the tractor.

I'm going through an aux valve rebuild right now. The leak might be at the gasket, and might be at the O-rings that go around the check-valve passages. The gasket is only about 0.003 thick.

It depends on your valve how difficult it will be to put it together (they used at least 3 different aux valves on the 830). One of the heads on mine had a couple of 1/4" ball valves which would fall out of their seats and down into the passages if the head was tilted. Later ones, I think had a thermal valve in the right head with one ball. To get mine back together, I ended up having to balance the larger check balls on their springs and lower the body ONTO the head. If you can keep all the balls stuck in place while you put it back together (maybe some thick grease that's compatible with hytrans?), it should be possible to replace just the gasket and O-rings without unmounting the main valve body. You shouldn't even have to remove the swivels or hoses . Just remember if you do, that there are springs and check balls under the swivels that can get away.
