Awhile back I purchased a 300 diesel (301) that I have not been able to get to run. The gentleman I bought it from said that it just quit and would not start back. It appears to be in time and is getting fuel to the cylinders. It will run as long as you spray ether within a foot of the air filter intake tube, not directly into it. It does not take any thing but just alittle of the fumes to keep it running. It will rev up fine as long as you keep spraying. We are not putting enough into it to hurt it just alittle bit of the fumes is all it needs. We have tried pull starting it until the fuel was coming out the exhaust but it will not try to fire. It will produse alot of white smoke while you are doing this. Any suggestions before I pull the pump to have it, the injectors, and the powercells serviced? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have you checked the compression? I've heard that this Continental engine is bad about having cracked pistons or holes in pistons.
