I've had my 1945 SC for about 13 years and its a good solid tractor. When I bought it, it was in boxes and the engine was stuck due to gross neglect. I freed it up, honed the cylinders, did a hand valve job, replaced the rings, and she started right up.
Since then I've replaced one seal behind the rt brake, redid the brakes, replaced the tires, relined the gas tank, repainted some body parts and converted it to 12 volts.
It starts and runs great and I've used it for some actual work but mostly just play. Drove it last fall to a local Heritage Day event 10 miles away and had a blast. My son drove our IH A.
I found a set of pretty good 10 x 38 late 30's vintage tires for the rear so it looks good and authentic.
The hand clutch has its advantages. If you can get the SC your looking at for under $1200 or so if its in decent shape I"d go for it.

New reproduction sleeves, pistons rings, etc. are available. They are expensive though. I think an engine rebuild kit is around $750. The crack behind the carburetor is in the water jacket and can be repaired with JB Weld. The wet clutch is oiled by the engine. It is a very durable clutch, but a little hard to adjust. Email me if you have other questions. I have Cases and Farmalls.

These tractors are notorious for developing a hoizontal crack in the side of the engine block, just behind the carburetor.

The clutch on an SC is a wet "oil-bath" - a good clutch but not the easiest to work on. Make sure the clutch is stout enough to kill the engine in 2nd or 3rd gear if you try to move the tractor while standing hard on the brakes. These tractors can have issues with the shift forks in the transmission. Make sure it shifts easily into all 4 forward gears and reverse. Most SCs leak a little gas around the brass flange where the bowl screws into the gas tank. New internal engine parts are kind of hard to find but several on this board sell reconditioned rods, bearings, cranks, etc.

What you are looking at is a 1943 model.
