My 38 (4210885-L) was built july 5 1938. Yours was 892 tractors before that. Tell us a little bit about what you bought.

Canuck Case, I haven't got the L home yet. It has a starter and is orange. It has a hydrualic setup on it to operate a remote cylinder. I assume that is probably from a later tractor, like a LA. It has what seems to be a factory battery box. It has no generator. Nor the long bracket a generator would mount on.

Sounds just like mine. I think 1938 was the 1st year with a starter. Mine is orange, but I suspect orange over grey. Is yours styled or unstyled? I think most of the tin on mine is from an later LA as the 38 should be unstyled (I think). Generators show up on ebay (with brakets) from time to time
