I am restoring an old backhoe and just changed hydraulic filters and added 12 qts. of TCH to torque converter(it has torque tube and hydraulic reservoir-torque converter). My manual also calls for 15 qts.of 90 weight for tranny and differential, but it also states that the TCH oil is one oil used for transmissions, converters and hydraulics.

If this is correct, is the 12 qts.enough for entire system or do I still need to use the 15 qts.of 90 wt for tranny and differential?

Much thanks for any input-Bob...

Just changed oil in my trans/diff (530 CK)w/90wt.
Book says 15 qts but only holds 12 to the dipstick mark. It was still over full from last change when I went by the book. This time I went by the dipstick???

Bob,
On my 1964 Case 530 Case-o-matic, I use Case TCH in the Converter and Valvoline Gear Oil (85W-140) in the trans/diff. The torque converter and trans/diff are separate unites. However, some restorers believe you will develop gasket leakage with the multi-grade oils but not with the straight SAE 90. It your call.
