I haven't been able to find a starter or get mine rebuilt. Does anyone have a starter for the 38L, complete or for parts, they would sell me?

Is the starter for the L the same as the one used on an LA?

I have a starter from an LAE skid engine that I'd part with, but it would need to be rebuilt. Email is open if you are interested.

Hello canuck case,

Is your L Grey or Flambeau Red. Here is a picture of the '38 L that I purchased several years ago. We think it came from the factory painted Flambeau.

We were able to get both the generator and starter rebuild at a local shop. Cost about $150 each!

My 38 L is Flambeau I think? Re: Starter for 38 L in reply to Dave Olson, 04-01-2007 17:48:57
Hi Dave, My 38 L is currently Flambeau. However it is also styled which I think means someone transplanted the tin from a later LA. When I look close at the chasis it appears that the Flambeau is painted over gray.

How does your 38 run?

We had it running and it just quit bring it home from a show last year.

Started fussing with it last week and found that the mag had jumped time. Pulled the manifolds off and have a Big crack in the exhaust manifold!

I have a replacement manifold on the way. I hope by the end of this week I can say that the old L is running Great! :-)
