Hi guys I am new to Case tractors. Just bought a 1950 DC model. $250 for it and it is solid. Has a cracked block on the carb side but hopeful it can be fixed and I don't believe a oil galley is involved where the crack is but won't know for sure till I open the block up. So what can you guys tell me about this tractor? Was it a good one? Any common problems with this model? Any and all info you can give will be absorbed like a sponge by myself. Oh I am in west central Indiana. Thanks Chris

Thanks for so much great info guys! I expect to get it freed up easily as he said he had it running last summer. He said it ran rough and that it probably needed head work. It is in really good condition. Clean as a whistle and an older paint job that is dull but not rusty or flaky. I'll let you all know how I progress. Chris

This may sound crazy but it worked on a stuck SC. Pour fingernail polish remover and add some seafoam to get the pistons free. I let it soak for about two hours and after removing the starter, turned it backwards with a bar to free it.

Chris congrat's on finding a DC. I was where you where a few years ago. Bought a DC for 100 bucks and now I got Two DCs one running and one a part's tractor, both 51 models. Now it looks like I'll be getting a 52 with an eagle hitch. You'll be able to get a lot of info and advice from the guys on this board. A lot of your questions can be answered by looking at some of the old posts. There are still parts around and there a fun tractor to work on and run. I think there one of the neatest looking machines of there time. Good luck and have fun!!!

fill with water and check if water in oil. DC TOM is most likely correct but I just had one I thought same thing but crack was also internal leaking into oil as cracked into lifters
