This is just an FYI. As of the first of the year oil manufacterers are required to remove the zinc from their oil for emission purposes (the zinc is what gets embedded into your cam, lifters, and cylinder walls). Most new engines today have roller cams and will not be affected by this change but the dyno shop that I use has had several engines with non-roller cams come back with the lobes worn off. Most engines that have been in service for a while will not be affected because there will be enough zinc embedded into them to last for many years. I like to stay on the safe side though so I started using an additive with zinc in it. The cheapest one I've found is STP at about $1.50, I e-mailed STP to be sure it had a high zinc content. Also there is a person leaving Kendall to start his own company to make race oil with zinc in it, or so this is what I've heard. Mainly just an FYI for anyone installing a new cam, good luck.

Michael
