I have a Case 1290 high crop that's in bad shape but has some good parts.I would like to find a replacement for it that i could switch the front axle and tires on to. Would any one know if Davd Brown 1200 0r 1210 would be compatable for this purpose. Is there a difference between them other than the sheet metal? Would other parts on my 1290 fit?
Thanks for your help!

Andrew

Now then, don't know as the 1200 is a bigger tractor than the 1290, the 1200 went on to become the 1210/1212 which in turn became the 1390 then 1394 before production ceased in 1985. The 1200/1210 had a bigger, heavier, front axle than the 1290 and it was a common conversion in England where I used to live to put a 1200/1210 front axle under a 1290 or a 995/996 that was fitted with a front loader and had worn out or damaged it's own axle. The 1290 has a syncro box and a seperate hand clutch as does the 996/1210, but not the 995,1200 or 1212. The 1290 does not have TCU in the hydraulics but all models previous to this back to the 25 and 30 series of the 1950s do. The 90 series has hydrostatic steering, only those tractors fitted with a 'Q' cab in the previous ranges did. the easeiest tractor to put your old bits on to would be a David Brown 996 as this is your 1290s nearest relation.

The axles will physicly swap, but the 1290 has hydrostatic steering, the 1200 don"t.

Would other parts like the tranny, clutch, hydraulic valve assemble swap out as well. Are the 1200's and 1210's the same block with a different bore? Thanks for your help.

Andrew
