Hi folks, wondering if someone can tell me if growling noises from my 400B Case-o-matic is something to worry about. It doesn"t do it all the time and it sounds like it is coming from up front behind the grill. I just changed the fluid. Seems to work fine. Anybody know what this might be? Thanks for any help. I"m still trying to get this old girl in shape. Steve

Thank you for your replys Gentlemen. This forum always amazes me with how fast all you are ready to help us guys in need. As for my 411B, I have not really run it all that much. I bought it almost 2 years ago and have been slowly working on it. It has made these noises before and they usually come and go. Seems when it runs longer they go away. I just put Walmart hydraulic/transmission fluid in it. I believe that should be fine. Am I wrong on that? Thanks again for your help. This tractor has a few little issues I need to get right but hopefully nothing too serious. Steve

Check the hoses really good for kinks, sometimes the outer rubber will look OK but the inner hose will have a kink causing a restriction and then noise up there. They bend around pretty good.

does this sound happen when you start it or let out on the clutch? all of my case-0-matic's do this to a point, this is air-fluid moving in the cooler lines, they also make louder noises when they are cold you can isolate the line with rubber hose to keep this to a minimun

Its probably the nature of the beast , Depends on your experience with the tractor ,,If you have worked it for years and now you are noticing a different sound , I would try to find out why ,, Just had the radiator apart on My 800, IT HAD plugged up Transmission cooling tubes ,To be truthful ,It does not seem possible to get so much high pressure thru a very small cooling cavity.. The noise you are hearing could be from the resistance in this area.., According to some on this forum Dexron 3 is suggested to be the best modern oil for the Case -o- matic .,, Best wishes , Jim
