Have an opportunity to buy a 1967 580CK diesel backhoe with the 33 backhoe attachment. Couple of Questions:

How do you start the critter-the solenoid just clicks-bad starter or solenoid??

The owner says the shuttle is weak-when warm will not push much in either forward or reverse. I have read most of the posts on this forum enough to know this can be a problem. Are the parts still avaliable to fix the problem??

What is it worth assuming I can get it started and the only serious problem is the shuttle transmission?? The tractor belongs to a widow and I want to be fair to both of us.

TIA

John

on starting problem is the starter clicking or are you enguaging the preheater? this will make a clicking sound to as it activates a solinoid alsothe 4-speed shift needs to be in the S or start position this is to the left and up then turn key switch to the right as for price here in NE wyo we get 5000-7000 for a good running hoe minis your repairs I would say 2000-3000 depending on tires and cylinder condition how many are leaking? this runs around a 100 a cylinder to fix if it is just needing rekitted

I've got a 1966 580CK with a 33 hoe, and I've been able to get any part I need right from Case.
I've also found, that - just about any part that is also available aftermarket will be just about as cheap from a Case dealer. But . . . they know what parts are NOT available aftermarket - and those are priced sky-high. I had my shuttle apart, also the rear-differential, brakes, cluth-valve, etc. and every part was available.
