Under the hose fitting on the closed end of each cylinder there is a small restrictor valve. Just curious what the thinking was behind these?. Why did Case use them.

Don't take restrictors out! in reply to td5doug, 03-14-2007 22:46:44
Without the restrictors, the boom would swing too fast, come to the of its travel, and jar you right off of the seat! Additionally, it would likely break mounting pins and castings. There is a lot of force in a swinging boom. Keeping the speed down is for safety and reliability.

Roger, thanks for the reply, you confirmed what I figured, at first I thought they might have been to equlize flow between the opposite cyl ends with the difference in volume & being cross connected, but that didn't make sense because of where the restrictor is located, then I noticed in the parts book that there is a different restrictor depending on whether it is an extend a hoe or not, so figured they must be to control speed. One of mine is missing & it will squawk pretty hard at the end of travel if the bucket is loaded & your not paying attention. At some point in its past life they have broken the eye off one of the swing cyls & repaired it so its probably been missing for awhile.
