I recently bought a 52 VAC that I want to use for antique pulling. It now has IH wheels on it with 16.9x28 tires, I know these are way too big.Could someone tell me what size wheels and tires this tractor came with originally? It's a narrow front if that makes a difference. Thanks

I've got a 51 VAC w/ 11.2-34. Ive got an earlier(45) VAC w/ 10-28...I think you should have the 11.2-34

Assuming 18"-20" drawbar height, 3.5mph pace, up to 3500lbs, and no cut tires, you'll need at least 30hp at 540pto to turn 12.4x28's if your VAC has the common 66t bull gears. If you've got the 67t bull gears you ought to be able to turn 14.9x28's with 30hp.

Unless you're planning to spend some $$$ in the engine a VAC is not a good choice. They simply don't have enough @ss to pull their gearing with a bone-stock motor.

The original 28" rim was 10-28, accomodated tires 10-28, 11-28 & 12-28.

Tires sizing has changed since your tractor was built I.E. tire 10-28 was renumbered 11.2-28.

Go to the link under HOW TO ORDER / FAQS is some good info on sizing.

Your tractor could have came out with either 28" or 34" rear tires on it. They were probably wither 11.2 or 12.4 in width.
