I saw a brochure that I had to have showing these models pulling a 3 bottom plow. Quite a load. I have plow manuals that list parts for a 12,14,and 16 inch molboard. Were these plows pictured in the brochure 12"? Where could you find one? Any Case guys know the answer? DC Tom, do you know?

Our 53 SC pulled a 3 bottom BER. I believe they were 14s. This was in the black land of central Texas where our fields were realitively flat. When we took it to Northwestern Colorado (7,000' altitude) where we had adobe soil and real steep hills it would only pull 2 up the hill. Did ok with 3 on the straight parts across the slopes and down hill with 3 but not up hill.

I just re-read your post. Sorry for beating you up about a 3 bottom plow behind an SC.

Glenn

My dad had an LP head installed on his '41 gas SC. We pulled 2 18s (it was an IH plow) with it. You had to shift into first to pull up a red clay hill. When I was 10 - 11 years old I have plowed up a red hill balanced by hanging on to the wheel with both hands and standing/steering with the brakes. No eagle-hitch, just a break away tongue. Keep the trip rope to one side of your butt so you won't "burn" anything in the middle when you hit a rock!:^)

We had a new 41 SC & pulled 2-16s with it the first year. Then dropped back to 2-14s. This was in Northern Illinois. I could plow corn fields okay but when it came to hay fields, oh boy did it snort. Dad then got a DC and used the 2-16s the first year then went to 3-14s with no trouble. Still had both when he quit farming. Don't miss the cows, but oh the fond memories. Chuck

We bought our DC new in '51. 2-14's is all it wants. I now have a '53 DC and a '54 SC. We've got a nice eagle hitch mounted CASE plow. I haven't considered putting it on the DC say nothing of the SC!

I have fond memories of being a little gaffer strapped to the fender of my grandfather,s SC so that I wouldn't fall off as he plowed pulling a 3-14 IHC ace bottom plow.

I know for sure Dad pulled three 14's with his SC. It had bigger sleeves and a bigger carb. I still have the Hyd lift plow that he bought new to pull behind it.

I have a 54 SC with 3 5/8 M&W pistons and 5617 head. I restored it in 2000 and plowed with it for the first time last fall. I had a 2-16 trip plow and one of our club members had an M with the same size plow. We ran all day without getting in each others way. Never took it out of 2nd except to plow the dead furrow. I think it would handle 3-12's real good.
