arnold just get govenor fron a d series tractor , set flywheel on proper mark , pull 3 bolts taking c series govenor out noting timming position , put d series govener in which has proper flange mount , not base mount like your present mag. I have extra govenors from d series. If you are the fellow i sold an lp head to ( when i was in montana) i will sell you a d series govenor for $20.00 including shipping Your present base mount mag should be worth more to sell than this change over incluiding a distribitor which will fit on the flange mount d series govenor 307 532 3999

If your present mag has good inpluse, and rotor ,cover and good points , you can use your mag . place an coil from auto store , they are 6 volt so you may need to place an resister in line to reduce voltage . take mag cover off and disconnect all wire from the points and remove the condenser, isolate mag coil wire to the point, then drill a small hole in bottom of mag run coil wire to point and place a new condenser at the coil output replace mag cover you should be ready to run. also use an gasket sealer in hole you drill. hope this help John

Than you are ready sorry I didn't include this before . John

Good Advice ,,With all Due respect to Good Sam ,,Just switched distibutor over to Electronic ignition on one of my DC ,,Started just like that ,, Wow ,The old points were bad , and it had gotten pretty tempermental this winter .And When I call on this tractor I need it to Go ! 2 more of my DC And 2 sc have Mags , and I am pleased with these magnetos , I have a 54 SC with a distibutor , and it works O .K. for a SC. Electronic ignition cost me over one Ben Franklin, But I am pleased with the way She runs ,, I hope it will last , Does any one Know about the longivity of these products? ,.. Changing over Just depends on your attitude toward being original , I saved all the parts so any future owner 50 years from now can go back to them ,, Best regards , Jim

thanks for all the advice. the reason I want to convert it is I pull it and I want to put a hotter system on it and I also want to turn rpms up quite a bit.
