Have a 310 with front loader. Went to push a little snow down the driveway and the rear wheels spun and slipped. I know i need a little weight back there but what's the best solution. Can I just put chains on, or will carring some weight on the eagle hitch work. Just need some traction.
Thanks Bill

I"ve got a 48 SI with a Hough industrial loader on it that has about 800 lbs of wheel weights mounted on the back. Even with all this weight without chains it is absolutely useless in snow.

Thanks all for all the help. The tractor has a wide industrial front end and a wide Case bucket.(as wide as the front wheels) I will probably make a cement block and fabricate a lift bar on the block so I can back right up to it and hook up. I cac also use it for counterweight when using bucket, thus killing both birds so to speak.

Years ago I had an 8 1/2' Meyers blade on the front of a loader on a C-O-M 630. Took the bucket off. Put a set of 3-16's on the Eagle Hitch for weight, and had tire chains. Had a canvass weather cab. That ol'e girl would move and pile snow!! Still have the blade, now we mount it on the front of a DC.

I agree with all the suggestions. I would add both chains and weight. Chains will help you push when the loader is down, weight will help you move when you lift it back up. I have seen many loader tractors with a 55 gallon drum of concrete on the back for weight.

Incidentally, I have a Case DO with a 7.5" Meyers plow on the front. One rear tire is loaded with fluid, the other is not. Both tires have chains. After the ground froze for the winter, the weight in only one side made no difference. The tires are equally likely to spin.

I have had several of those tractors, I have one right now with a industrial loader. Every one I have had useless, without a severe amount of counter weight. The one I have now , has a 55 gallon barrel with gravel in it, couldn"t move off the spot in snow. There was a complete DC radiator close by, and put it on top of the barrel, and now I can move it around. I have a huge counter weight off a junk 310 Terratrac that might get the job done. Also with those narrow buckets, it is the last tractor in the line up to move snow.

On my tractor I keep the back blade on and have 6 suit case weights on the blade. Give you the weight you need plus the option of the back blade to boot. I use a big V plow on it and the only time I need chains is when theres ice under the snow other wise I do just fine with out chains. But the tires are also filled with wiper fluid

Bill: You have several options....yes, chains will help as will individual rear wheel weights;adding fluid to the rear tires; adding weight to the rear...you can use a flat drawbar in the eagle hitch to hang on some front end tractor weights or you could make a weight out of cement.....you can use any or all of these options.....it just depends on how aggressive you need it to be.
