I am presently working on a 310B Industrial with a front end loader. Painted the main body Flambeau red. What is the correct color for the sheet metal and loader. Does anyone have the paint codes or know where I can obtain some.
Thanks,
Bill

Joe,
IN reguards to your question on the 310 power steering. We are working on it. We cut the piston apart on a lathe. We found that a front shoch off a 6500 series GMC truck was the length that we needed to replace the bent piston rod on the origional. WE also are using a new DOM tube to replace the bent one. Next is to cut off the piston seal and weld it to the new piston rod and reassemble and weld it all back together. I hope I explained it correctly. WE are confident that it will do the trick. If you are interested I will document exactly how we are doing it and with the exact model truck the shock came off.

Bill, thanks for the offer but I don't need the info.

The cylinder off the ford 700 plus the less worn hard parts from the orig Case cylinder got me going in good shape.

The leftover parts from the 2 cylinders are mostly junk. The shaft appears to be straight but has a about a 2" eroded area right where the shaft seal sits when the wheels are straight. It could probably be cleaned up & rechromed. The exterior of the cyl barrel is banged up some from impact with the bolster. The valve actuator parts are well worn, broken & rewelded, basically last gasp stuff. I have already given the valve away.

Hopefully you will be successful in the direction you're going now but if something comes up and any of the above may help get you going, let me know and I will mail it to you.

Bill: This could be a tough one to answer. According to the 2nd volume Case book..... the 310 was sold through the Ag dealers and retained the ag sheet metal and colors ( flambeau red and desert sunset)and did not have a self-leveling loader-- the 320 sold through the industrial dealers had a self-leveling loader and was painted yellow. Now; did this mean the color of yellow that was used in the "Terratrac days" or did they mean "Desert sunset" I do know that the early 60's industrial models (ie) W-3's; 430's & 530's were painted flambeau red and desert sunset. I think that the Case Industrial Yellow did not come on the scene until the "Construction King" series tractors came out in i believe 1963. I know that it can be quite confusing as far as paint colors go. I have an early W-3 (1960 model)industrial loader tractor and someone before me painted the sheet metal the newer "industrial yellow" color. On the lower part of the gas tank is the old "Desert Sunset" which is for this tractor the correct color.Alot of folks tried to upgrade the paint to make it look like they have a newer machine than thay really do.....it's too bad they do these things. It would'nt be so bad if they would have a professional paint job on them.....most of them do not and look like heck in a short while. I would look for traces of the original color....like under the hood and gas tank etc. Also the year of manufacture might shed some light on this subject. Good luck.

I have 320 industrial. Has self-level loader. Original paint color was a bright yellow, "sunshine" yellow maybe, even wheels. Dosn't show any signs of other color, except on rear fenders. They were "desert sand" under over all original bright yellow. One repaint many years ago with "school bus" yellow-YUCK!

Bill: I do'nt know if you are familiar with many of the Case two tone tractors of the late 50's and through the 60's. In the ag. tractors these were all painted the Desert Sunset color on the sheetmetal (hoods, fuel tanks, most fenders, etc.)and the chasis flambeau red. I found a code you can take to any paint or body shop supply store and they can mix you up some paint.....i do not know if it is available from Case today or not.I took this code #81357 to my "Body Shop Supply Store" and this is what their recipe called for.....#81357-no offset prophet....MTK Qt. A code M106..... 40.4 M113..... 102.1 M119..... 449.2 MX193.....468.4 M149..... 1170.6 This does'nt mean anything to me but i'm sure any reputable auto body paint supply store will get you the right stuff. I had this particular store mix up some "flambeau red" for me and it was beautiful. It all depends on what you want to spend and how nice a job you're looking for. I think if i remember correctly that these are PPG paint codes....they'll know for sure. Some of the tractor supply stores probably sell this paint also but not in as many different types of paint as the autobody stores do. If you want the highest quality paint go to the auto supply store.

Iluvcase,
If this will shed any light on my paint Question. I have a 1957 310 (6078140). Was desert sunset more of a pale yellow or beige? Is it still available? The hood is painted a pale yellow color, but could be a repaint.

I know nothing, zip, zero, nada about paint. I hate painting. There are only 3 things in this world I hate and 2 of them is paint.

Did you get your power steering cylinder fixed?

Joe
