Guys, I'm interested in making a pulling tractor out of a neighbors Case 930 Diesel, which currently has a dead 401. I'd like to know if a 504 out of a 70 series, or preferrably a 90 series, will bolt up to the bellhousing of the 930, and if the front bolster of the 930 will bolt up to the 504 block. What flywheel would work best on the 504 to mate up w/ a clutch for the 930? I'd like to make this a 3000 RPM class pulling tractor, which is why I want the 90 series heads, to avoid the pencil injectors.

Has this swap been done before by anyone here, and if so, are there any other pointers you can offer me for this project? Thanks!

Does anyone else have any input on this swap? Will the rear end of the 930 take the brunt of the 504? How about hooking up the 504 to the radiator, will the radiator need to have the inlet & outlet modified?

It's been done hundreds of times in reply to Nebraska1206, 02-11-2007 15:57:00
It's a bolt in both front and rear. Depending on the 504, you will need to make a hole for the steering shaft. Some sheet metal work will be required too. After that, it just some linkage and fuel line issues. The injection pump is on the right side on the 30 series and the left on the 70 series. Perhaps someone else or my son can help with the flywheel especially with 3000 RPM.
