I've never switched engines from a 8 speed to a 6 speed transmission, so I can't speak with certainty. However, trying to bore out a 401 block to accept 504 sleeves and pistons would be a major undertaking. Powercell engines have flat top pistons. The 504 engines have direct injection and dished pistons. You would have to have custom made pistons. Additionally, the valve size in the 1030 are bigger. It would likely be less expensive and easier to intall a 451 powercell engine into a 930. It has 101 stock horsepower.

It has already been done, not hard to find 4 5/8 pistons, how many places are going to let it pull with an adapter plate in between? put in 4 3/8 flattops then

What do ya'll think about taking my block, boring for 4-3/8 pistons, and putting 1030 heads on it to have the bigger valves? I assume the 1030 power cell heads would fit the 401 block won't they? I guees the block swap is what I get for trying to think, gets me in trouble ever time, i just assumed it would bolt right to the clutch housing, so if not ,I'm gonna need to go another route.Had thought about going the 504 route, but too, the pump is on the wrong side, and a lot of sore thumbs for people to notice we're different. It pulls good right now,about6 - 8 in. of fire out the stack, 8,500-9,500 farm stock.Any more ideas/input welcome, and the more economical the better. Thanks,Willie

I installed a 451 on my 8-speed 930 with no problem. This is the first Case I have ever worked with.I am not familiar with the 6 speed model.
