I have a case 155 garden tractor (approx 1968) which I suspect needs major repairs to hydrostatic unit. Has been stored last 25 years and not used. Before that I know it slipped badly. Any suggestions on how to isolate problem to pump or hydro unit? Do you know where I may take Hydro unit to have it re-built? Know where I can buy parts and do it myself. This was a terrific garden machine when it worked and was very stout (700+ lbs.) Cleveland, Oh area.

first off the thing uses motor oil not any kind of hydraulic fluid . that just makes them slip. Best stuff is Shell Rotella 15-40 deisel oil.something about the diesel additives and nonfoaming.also go to Yahoo groups and look for Case garden tractors maybe 2000 members and all kinds of info, used parts and just buddies with ideas.

Plastic insulation has cracked, mice have eaten through the older clothed style coverings and the exposed wires have reacted to winter moisture and salts by turning blue and powdery.
