Hello there. I have searched the forums and have found no info on this subject. Our 970 powershift, when you put the cluch in it would make a bit of a rumbling noise and vibrate kind of like something was out of balance. This only happened when the planitary was turning. The hydralics and powershift all still work fine. We split it and found that one clutch plate in c1 had split on one side, but had not stretched far enought to slip over the gear it rode on. We also found that the bushing in the back of the flywheel had moved forward far enough that the input shaft into the plannitary, was sloppy in the flywheel. would this cause the plannitary to become slightly off center and cause some of the rumbling? What are your experiences? To top of the matter our 1070 has just started the exact same symptoms not a week after the 970 kicked the bucket. My question. Could all the problem be is that split clutch disk? Is this a week spot in these tractors? We pulled the plannitary out of the 970 and all the bearings behind look alright. We are trying to limp the 1070 through till we get the 970 back together... to feed cows... 1070 does need powershift attention anyways(slipping in 1st) but hopefully do not wreck more running it slowly for awhile. Any ways. enough babbling. Any ideas or experience out there?
Thanks.

I would chech the planetary gears and planetary ring gear real close. I have seen metal shavings in the grooves of these gears cause this problem. check the bearing in the back of the planetary gears carrier. It will be the bearing woth the snapring on it. The bearing should fit somewhat snug in the carrier. some times the bearing will tend to egg shape the carier.
