I have been told by more than one person that a 530 is simply a 430 with the injection pump turned up. Does anybody have an answer to this question? Thanks! Don

Back in 67 My Dad bought a 1966 430 diesel , Real powerhouse ,Pulling 3/14in 3rd direct ,with traction lock engaged often , Before no till, My brothers and I plowed with this tractor from oil change to oil change virtuelly non stop. This little gutsy tractor could hold its own against a 4020 gasser pulling 4/16 in the same field,, And when it came to fueling time , The John Deere used 3 to 1 as much fuel ,gallon for gallon ,, Anyway in 1975 ,it was evident that it was overhaul time , the 430 replacement sleeves literally fell thru the block ,, went back to Hunt in Louisville, the parts man was incredulous , I told him we had a demonstrator , and gave him the block #, He had the parts in a few days ,And When I asked what We really had ,He more or less told me to take my parts and keep Quiet ,, My guess is We have 630 sleeves and pistons with a turned -up pump , And probably an extra row in the radiator , This tractor never does run hot , Even during the hard lugging we put it thru plowing ,, One Tough Little Fella , Jim

Don, The diesel 430 and 530 were 188cid. The 430 was governed @ 1750 and the 530 @ 1900. I think the pump was the same on both units. The 430 pto was 540 @ 1750 governed speed and the 530 was 540 @ 1750 rpm thus the 530 was a bigger tractor plowing but not baling hay. The 430 gasoline was a 3 3/8 bore for 148cid and the 530 gas was 3 1/2 bore for 159 cid. Your gas 530 had a little more power on the pto at 540 than the 430 did at 540 and the 530 gas could out pull the 430 quite a bit plowing because it had about 11 more qubes as well as running at 1900 rpm. I think all other parts were the same except that the fuel tank was bigger on the 530 (close to ten gallons more) so the tin work had to be taller too.

Hi Don, the 430 had a rated speed of 1750 and the 530 is 1900 for the dry clutch models. Both are 188's for diesels. About the only difference is the sheet metal. The 530 is a taller machine. The 630's rated speed is 2000 and uses a heavy duty block (diesel) and the gas engine has the same block as the 530 diesel (so I have been told).

530 has a larger cooling system in reply to Tom (Ks), 01-31-2007 17:20:42
Correct about the gasoline engines. 430 has 148 CID and the 530 has 159 CID. Diesels are the same except for a turned up pump in the 530. 430 was rated at 35 HP from the factory, the 530 was rated at 43 HP. The 530 has a higher hood and a larger cooling system.
