I just bought a Case 400 with a 3 bottom eagle hitch plow. I believe it is a BER plow. It appears to have very little clearance. Looks like it would ball up easy in heavy stubble. Anyone have any experience with this type of plow? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Would this be the same plow used on the DC? if not then which one would that be? DCDENNIS

Your observations on clearence are quite correct, but with ex bottoms it was arguably the best tough alfalfa plowing outfit ever designed. A 300 would pull it about anyplace (three bottoms). Does it have the hydraulic cylinder on it? In the days before high clearence plows and corn stalk choppers we used disk plows to plow corn stalks without disking.

I can't imagine a 300 pulling a 3 bottom plow!

We did it all the time and in conditions where two tractors could not pull 3 bottom pull plows.
Most just do not know what a terrific combination the mounted plow and a 300 were. A 400 with the larger 4 bottom mounted plow was excellent and set the standard for tough plowing in its day, but the 300 could usually run right with a 400 or marginally faster (better gearing). Just do not send someone out with one that number one does not know how to set a plow number two does not know how to set a case eagle hitch mounted plow. I could set a mounted 3 bottom plow on a 300 that an LA or a 500 could not move it let alone a 300.....

Depends on your ground. Our 53 SC easily pulled 3 14s in central Texas black land. 300 is about 3 bhp more than an SC.

This plow does not have the cylinder, it uses a turnbuckle. It has one piece moldboards. They are marked CX14.

Hi Scott. Your plow ia a BER. The one after that for the 300 and 400 is a BE, with EX bottoms and the moldboard has the shin. Charley.
