I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on what transmision fluid to use in a 1962 propane 930. I have the original owners manual which says to use TCH. I have bought some generic trans/hyd oil which says it is compatible with Case TCH. It is a 10/20 wt. Is the trans oil this thin? My neighbor, who ran Cases all his life says he always used 80/90wt. I guess my question is does this tractor actually take a thin oil? It"s a 6 speed if it makes any difference. Thanks-Bob

I have a 900 LP and a 1966 CK six speed. I use 80/90 in both. My 930 called for TCH which was in it when I bought it in 1971 with 2000 hrs on it. I changed than to 80/90 with a gallon of wynn's charge. I now have 8400hrs and have never changed oil again and have not had a min's trouble with it.

We have a Diesel 930 with an 8 speed. On ours the hydro fluid resivior is the tranny. We use Mobil Fluid insted of TCH, it's a bit cheaper. The fact that your book says use TCH oil, I would suspect your tranny to be set up the same. I have heard of people running a thicker oil if thier pump or oil seals were wore or leaking, but thats only a temp fix. Hope that helps.

What climate are you in? In Cambodia we run 140W in all our chain drives, but we are 90 to 110 degrees. If you are in a place where it gets cold consider a heavy multi grade like 80w-140 or something like that?? I think the thiner oil was meant for the eight speed gear drives, but I could be wrong. Plain old 90W is standard.
