I use a 300 case tractor every day to clean our dairy barn.Question?I took the pto out a while back, and plugged the hole where the seal was with a welded washer and now the hydraulic 3 point oil comes through the breather under the seat, when I use it.Can I take that washer out allowing the oil to seep back into the second gearbox so this wont happen? Also is there another seal area at the end of the splined shaft that I would have to plug so the oil would not get to the clutch?Thankyou for any advice you can give.Dave Ahlgren

PTO removal not the problem.... in reply to daveminn, 01-18-2007 16:30:05
Hydraulic oil getting into the rearend will be caused by a defective 3 point piston seal. You have plugged the only other possible way for hydraulic oil to get there. If you are using the 300 for heavy work, you need the proper lube oil in the rearend which is 90W gear oil. Also, by removing the home made plug to allow the oil to move back to the torque tube as a cure will cause other problems. The ultra high level of oil in the rearend will put undo pressure on the brake seals and axle seals causing them to seep. Save yourself from more problrms. Remove the rockshaft cover and replace the 3 point piston seal. Return the rearend lube to its proper type and level.
