Hey guys and gals, Sometime back a person on this board was collecting names and locations of old Case dealerships. I wonder if he still is on the board and what he intends to do with the information, (write a book, list them on the web, ???). Does anyone know?
Thanks,
Phil

I am the person that is collecting dealer names and locations. I intend on writing a book of interviews of actual living former dealers and descendents of deceased dealers with pictures of their former dealerships. I do not know if I will publish a listing or not. If so, it will be only of the people who agree. Most people do, a few don't want to be known or remembered as a Case dealer or don't want their location disclosed for any number of reasons. I feel like I am under extreme pressure to get this project completed as these older dealers are leaving us very quickly. It is difficult to find out who the Case dealer was in most towns simply because they have been gone for 50 years or so. It is amazing how many of the buildings are gone or extensively changed for another purpose. And the information received is not always accurate. However, I continue to be grateful for all the information I receive on this Board. Thanks to everyone who has provided me with details! Don

Don, I know of two.

#1 was Frank Lucus in Springport, Mich. He sold Allis Chalmers and Silver King up to about 1940. He quit the Allis and sold Case and Silver King. He went out of business around 1950 or a little later.

#2 was Stanley Imp. at Clayton, Indiana. He started early with Case and changed over to M Moline in the early 50's.

There was a combined Case and Oliver dealership here at Nevada,MO.It was Nolin Equipment Company..I can remember them being in business in to the early 1960's as they had a new 1800 Oliver hooked to a 6 bottom plow out front. They were gone before the 1850's came out.

In the 1950's as a little kid I used to go in Nolins with Dad when he got parts for his Case A-6 combine.I can remember getting tractor sales lit there. They sold a new Case 800 combine to a neighbor.

I've heard that the little town of Milo,MO just to the SW of me had a Case dealer in the 1940's.I'm not sure whom owned it.

Lamar,MO had a Case dealer in to the 1970's.First it was Fields and then later Todds.I remember a Case dealer at Bolivar,MO in the 1960's.

Harwood,MO had a Case dealer called Gammon Equipment from the the 1960's in to the early 80's.They sold a few 30 series but mostly 70 series.

Ft Scott,KS had a Case dealer called Lalmans if I remember right. They went out in the 1970's?

Thomas Implement at Altamont,KS was a huge Case dealer. They are still in business today as Case-IH.

Traveling in central Kansas as a kid in the 1950's-60's I remember lots of Case dealers. There were L-LA Case tractors everywhere.

We used to drive by a huge Case dealer at Argonia,KS but I cant remember the name.Several of my neighbors grew up on a big wheat farm at Conway Springs,KS.Their Dad bought Case tractors at Argonia. My one neighbor still has his Dads old 1957 Case 900 LP that was bought new there. He classic pulls with it and I see they have come up with a twin to it.

Hi Don, I think I sent you this name a year or 2 ago but if not here is one. Walter's Farm Service, Aliquippa, PA. Walter Tellish was the owner. He was a case dealer until probably in the 60s. When Case wanted all the dealers to maintain a big inventory of new equipment he gave up the dealership. His wife Edith was the parts person. Several of his sons worked for him and some are still in the area. One son still maintains a 'country store' in the original building. I worked for Walter in the early 70s. My uncle bought a VAC from him and later traded it in on a new '59 211B. I still use the 200 more than any of my other tractors. Possible contact is: John Tellish Country Supply 4343 State Route 151 Aliquippa, PA 15001

Hi Don ,,Thanx for your dedication ,,,Hear in Southern Indiana ,In New Albany,Alvin Shaffer was Our dealer until about 1968 ,He has since gone to the heavens to ride around on Case tractors that never will breakdown about 30 years ago . In Corydon around 1965 ,Allen Bickel Was a Fine Case repairman ,Although I am not sure that He ever became a bonifide CASE dealer ,He started out at SHAFFER TRACTOR, eventually became the dealer around here for the other Orange tractor,,ALLY- som-thun or other ,Anyway ,A great dealer for Us all ,A fine gentleman ,But those 22%Days were pretty hard for Him,And really financally strapped Him down ,,We lost Him about 11years back because of a botched Hernia operation,He would be around 70 today ,, I can give You contact info If You desire that would certainly enrich this info ,,Let Me know how I can help ,,Again Thanx Jim

Don, I can remember that there were four dealers in Ft.Smith, Arkansas over several years. I wasn't old enough to remember for sure the man's name who was the case dealer in the late 40's. Mouldy Powers was the dealer in the very early 50's. Don't know how he came about that name but that is all any of us knew him by. He moved into a quonset (spell?) building on midland Boulavard in the early 50's. Building is still there. I remember giving the 800 and 700 a good going over in that building. In the 60's the Fort Smith Tractor Center was on out North toward the river on Midland. I think that dealer bought Mouldy out. It was a nice new steel building with lots of windows for the showroom floor. They had a rotater in the middle of the floor that they set a tractor on and turned it round and round. They sold many many of the 200 and later balers through that dealership. My VAC has a Tractor Center decal on the side panel. It went through that dealership as a used machine. Kramer Equipment then became the dealer in 70 or so. He was the Allis dealer right across midland boulevard from the Tractor Center. He added Case to his line. He kept it through the case ih deal and later went out of business. Kramer was selling more 4 wheel drive tractors than any other case dealer in the country in the early 80's before the bust. Hope you got some useful info out of my rambling.

I might be able to help. Here in North Central, OKlahoma, I am very close friends with the family of one of the first case dealers here. The lady still has the dealership eagle and probably some other stuff. Also, many other large ones around here in the past.
