Who would rebuild and repaint an engine and not change the oil filter? Note the rusty oil filter on the VAI for sale on Ebay, see link below.

I have always stayed away from tractors like this. It indicates that the seller is trying to add some "curb appeal" to the machine to hide many other underlying issues. My guess is the rust that he covered will bleed through in about a year.

"Excellent Tin" Did those tractors come with the grille pushed in like that? Maybe Case thought that the farmers were going to hit something and push it in anyway so why not just produce it that way?

I have the same situation. A few years ago I bought a case of Case filters at an auction and some of the plastic wrappers were ripped and the filters had surface rust where ever there was a hole. Notice that the rust is away from the elements which means that either it was put on there like that it has been given a half a turn. Never seen a filter rust on the engine side.

If you look real closely, you will also see a very faded NAPA logo on the filter.

That would be the $3.58 Rattle Can Rebuild.
