Hello,
I am wondering if any one has changed a non-independent PTO to independent? I have all the parts from a 400-B, wanted to change a 430. If you have any experience with this please e-mail me. Thanks in advance cnj152

Sorry, it's not worth the effort! in reply to cnj152, 01-14-2007 12:10:26
The 400B has an independent PTO because the PTO shaft drive from the torque converter, which always turns when the engine is running. Your 430 has two shafts. The outer shaft always turns to drive the hydraulic pump (live hydraulics). The second shaft drives the PTO and the transmission. When the clutch pedal is pushed, that stops the transmission and the PTO. Many 430's have a hand clutch that will stop the transmission but allow the PTO to continue to run. Very late 430's and 470's did have true independent PTO's. Changing yours to that system would likely require a lot of time and expensive parts.
