I just tore into my 1950 SC.(got the tree out of the linkages, and the metal off).

I have some bent Rods, and some busted sleeves.
Was there more than one motor sold with these?
And Is it a REALLY BAD idea to purchase used sleeves?

There are two different styles of sleeves and three different bore (piston)sizes. Many used sleeves are pitted really badly on the exterior and hard to get to seal at the "O" ring.

The later engine blocks had sleeves with 2 exterior "O" rings. The sleeves in the older engine blocks have only one "O" ring. They are not interchangeable. The "O" rings set in grooves in the engine block. There should be part numbers on your pistons. Are the pistons cast iron or cast aluminum? If cast iron, they are likely 3-1/2 inch.

be sure to get sleeves using only one O-ring as later sc had 2 O-rings. Unless you are farming full time with your tractor theres nothing wrong with good used sleeves properly honed.
