Off of the ads on this site I purchased a quote "NOS" magneto for Case C tractors...It was described as being new with hot spark, "ready to bolt on".

Well Folks, I got the magneto two days ago in the mail and it is missing the whole impulse assembly, looks beat up, and definately not NOS...one of the air vent caps is upside down showing its been monkied with. Missing the impulse assembly, how could it be ready to bolt on the tractor? Also when I checked, it does not have spark and the internal gears show wear - once again definately NOT new old stock.

I emailed the seller and this is what he said:

Kent, Those mags when new came minus the impulse drive. Bosch didn't have one drive fits all. You would install the drive that meets your engines requiremants example 30 degress, 35 degrees. That is a new magneto. It never had a drive installed yet. I had an outer collar here which i gave you with the mag. You certainly must of read my ad, it clearly stated impulse drive NOT included. You will not get an impulse drive from me. You must of known that! The ad was only a few sentences. I'm not sure what you are up to here, but i'm not playing along. You recieved what was advertised...a never used Bosch , impulse not included. And, it certainly isn't severely beat up. If there is something full owed, its not a refund from me(don't expect one), its an apology from you. John Draus

I have tried to resolve the issue with the seller, but he is uncooperative. So be warned; I wouldn't suggest dealing with him. His name is John Draus and is from Wisconsin.

Thanks
Kent

Hey Case Collectors This is an outrage. If this person selling this bogus magneto without a spark has any charactor or integerty at all he would gladly refund the price of the mag and all shipping costs with an apology to everyone exposed to this shannigan. You are right Lee, new old stock is not junk old stock. Thanks, Harry

Well I'm not so sure that you were cheated here. He told you in the add that the impulse drive was not there so that's settled. The fact that a cover is upside down doesn't mean someone was inside it it just means its upside down with no proof as to how it got that way.
As far as the paint being chipped away remember this thing could be as much as 70 years old and if its not in the original box then I'm sure it would have paint chips from being tosses around for 60 to 70 years. Maybe you need to have an expert look it over and see just what condition it is in. It could be a very nice old mag that will last you for many years to come.
I have a Bosch Mag on my LA and it works great.

Something I forgot. When we see New Old Stock we just assume that its new. Not so its old its just unused. Old things can look really old and have never been used. It all depends on age and where it was stored all those years.

The guys email is: [email protected]

I paid him big bucks since is was described as a "new old stock magneto" and I get this piece of used junk....I paid with personal check, I can't stop payment; he waited till it cleared.

I don't see the guy's problem - I wanted to return it and get a refund minus shipping costs - and he strikes out at me!

Thanks, Kent

If you check, I think you have a 30 day grace period on any type of purchase like that. You should be able to get your money back along with sending the mag. back! Check it out, can't hurt!

That's a NOS tractor part??? Did they find the rest of the parts after the tornado hit the building? Looks like this one landed and took a long skid down a gravel road.

I don't quite understand his refusal to offer a refund if you return the part... what's he out then?

I'd take pictures of wear parts showing wear and ask for an explanation of how a NOS part can show obvious wear?

If you want to get nasty there are things to do if you paid by anything other than a personal check. Postal Money Order = mail fraud charges; Credit Card or PayPal = retract payment, you get your money back and the credit card company decides to fight it or eat the refund.

Just goes to show you, there's a d!ckhead in every group.
