Bought a 2590, what maintenance to do?

It"s my first time on this board. Our families have farmed with IH/C-IH and Oliver, but I"ve always heard the good word on people with Cases. I was looking for a higher horsepower, more user friendly farm tractor and bought a 2590 on this site. I can"t wait to get it cleaned up a bit and go to the field in the spring. What do you guys suggest I do when I get it? I"m sure I"ll do like normal and change all fluids and filters and start like new, but what else? Any adjustments to check, especially on the powershift? I"m not familiar at all with the transmission set up. I did hear it"s a lot better than the 3-speed on my Oliver 2255. I"ll be getting my manuals soon and reading over them. Thanks, in advance.

Thanks guys, I"ll check those things out and do them. I thought the 504 was a well known and strong engine. It"ll do fine for me on smaller acreage. I just thought, if you"re going to buy a tractor, go ahead and buy some horsepower!! This will pull all my implements with ease. It"s got 18.4-42"s and axle duals, so I hope that motor will hook up with the ground. Thanks for the info.

Hold on -thats powerful horse!!! Good thing to start on would be to clean air cleaner strato tube-radiator an oil an air conditioner stuff .Also your tractor should have a water filter on it. If so replace filter. If not put filter on it.You might want to put wd40 on door an window hinges an free up control leavers with it if they are binding. If knobs on leavers are loose you can put them on with jb weld an they will be tight. You can also remove fuel line at glass bowl an check if you have full flow of fuel-if not blow air through line back into tank. Also remove glass bowl an clean on injection pump.

We always had Case and Oliver, both continue to serve us well. The 2590 has one problem, that excellent 504 engine makes more power than the tires can hook up,but it has good fuel economy compared to that older green junk and it has something JD only dreamed about, low end torque. Filters, hy tran, coolant would be things I would consider changing, good luck. PS- Olivers over/under is also an excellent set up.

You also might need some weight out front. That's a lot of power to use on 2WD. And you betcha it's got low end torque and lugging capabilities matched only by its older cousin the 1570.
