I have an Alto-Lite generator with 3 brushes Model GBM4809B-5 2D. It has 2 wires that hook to a voltage regulator. My question is: If I hook this to a 12 volt regulator will it generate 12 volts

It can be converted by a shop to 12V.

Actually if it's a 3 brush type the A lead goes to the cutout and there probably is no Voltage regulator, It would have a resistance and a switch or a type of voltage regulator that os actually a hi - low switch.
