After putting it off for awhile, I decided to change the seal & wear sleeve on the rock shaft piston. (hydro oil in transmission) OK. I got the heavy top off. Ok how do you get the plug out of the front of the unit to push the piston out? I've rapped on the plug with an hammer, tryed rachet with pipe extension over the handel, used hand inpact driver, used air inpact. the plug will not move. I don't want to get to abusive I don't to break the top is there another way to get the piston out. Thanks Dave F.

The plug on my 430 had a snap ring holding it in with a o-ring around it.

Got the piston out. Never could get the plug to move. got thinking about it. applied compressed air to where the hydralic oil line hooks to it had it out in about 10 sec. Now to get the new seal on the piston.

Heat the cast around the plug with a torch, try not to heat the plug itself. Heat her up to red hot and hit it with the impact. It should back right out.

All, 630crazy's method is dead on, but one caution is needed. Make sure when you the plug is out to let the cast iron cool very slowly. Cover it with an asbestos/Nomex welding blanket if in cold climates. Cast iron will embrittle and could crack if cooled too fast. DO NOT quench with water under any circumstances.
