I HAVE A 2 VAS THAT WE JUST GOT RUNNING AND THE PTO DOES NOT WORK. THE LEVER GOES UP AND DOWN AS PER THE OPERATORS MANUAL, BUT THE SHAFT WILL NOT ENGAGE. ANY THOUGHTS OR HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

Will the shaft turn by hand? If it will turn part way while engaged then stop it could be that the gears have som teeth broke. This is very common. Several of the VA seris that we have dissassembled have had teeth off one or both gears. It could be that they are all off of one of the gears. That would allow it to free wheel even when engaged. The gears are availible after market. Good luck.

There are couple things that it could be. 1st is that the pto wasn't used enough and the bearings froze up . 2nd is the the ingagement fork has either been wore to heavily or has been bent. 3rd thing is the there could be grease built up on the out side at the seal that would allow it to turn. They are very basic inside and are very easy to fix. The hardest part is to make sure the seals and gasket are good. Once they start leaking good luck in stopping it. New seals are not as good as the old leather ones. Hope this helps. JMY

Tear it apart with at least 2-5gallon buckets(clean)Maybe as simple as cotter pin gone from inside. ps Be tender w/gasket. Luck Wayne
