Hydraulic hook up for log splitter in reply to clarkjames9, 12-18-2006 20:10:22
Yes it can be done. Just be aware that the hydraulic pump on a Case backhoe is high pressure and high volume. (2000 psi on a backhoe) (1400 psi on farm tractor remotes) Also, the hoses for the log splitter should be at least 3/4" and be able to withstand 3000 psi. The cylinder should be at least 4" diameter. If you have quick hydraulic disconnects for the backhoe attachment, the task of hooking it up will be quite easy. You may want to purchase another set of disconnect couplers. Simply disconnect the hose going to the backhoe attachment (make sure the engine is NOT running), run that nose to your log splitter, hook the return line from your log splitter to the other backhoe hose. The hookup is in series with the backhoe attachment. The relief in the loader control valve will still work and will open at pressures greater than 2000 psi. Good luck.
