Sounds to me if it is not riveted, it is a fuel tank made during the late 20's into the 30's I have only seen on other if possible you could post the casting number of the lid or any other parts that have a number to confirm its identity, I have a catalog picture that I could post

Hey Glen, You hit the jack pot. Looks like what he has. I'll post the cast # of the lid and the stenciled # on the tank itself. I wonder how rare this is? It looks like it is stick welded not rivited.

I have only seen one other, it is in Yankton SD, how rare it is I do not know, if it has the orginal running gear then I would say it would be truly one on a kind, I would encourage you to send a photo and a short article into one or both of the Case magazines, this may start others to looking for simular tanks and may put you into contact with people that own one like yours as well, Great Find!!!

Glen, This one is less the running gear. On "skids". Will get the #'s tomorrow and try to post them.

Sorry guys, I,m to tech. deficiant to do a picture. I'll see if I can get one of the grandkids or someone to do that. It has been used for diesel fuel In later years. It's not off a tractor but rather is a fuel holding tank of about 200 gallons. The ends are rounded out like a propain tank but not as pronounced. The Screw on lid is a solid molded, flat surfaced,1 1/2 to 2 inches diamater plug with Old Abe cast in the face of it. It does have ears on the cap. It is on about 8" blocks that have a slot cut our in it for the bands to go through. I'm thinking that it may be a tender tank for a steamer that someone just started using for a fuel tank. It's interesting. I'll post more as I get it. Thanks

Andy

Some of the old catalogs show fuel tender tanks. Does it have a cap with ears on it?

Andy, does it look like newer production? Could it be off of one of the big 4 Wheel units? The thing is I doubt if they used an eagle on the cap. Could it be a water tank from a steam engine?

My first thought is it's a water wagon, and not a fuel tank. And if it has a cap on it similar to the caps used on the fuel tank of a Crossmotor, they have Old Abe on them.

Pictures would be most helpful...
