I have looked at a 411b Saturday. I liked it. It has been really cold the past few days and it started right up. My questions is, The throttle is on the left and the converter shift is on the right. i could not get the right lever to move. Is there a problem or I am just stupid. I put the tractor in 4 hi and it slipped so is there a bunch of problems. As always any help is appreciated.

also on my 411b when you shift into gear rev the engine up a little then right back down to idle then shift into gear. and yes my gas throttle is on the left sitting on the tractor and the shift lever is on the right. when your in 4th and your going drop it into overdrive,it sets you right back in the seat. this one was my dads and i have it now. but its always having trouble with the pto. was fixed once now bad again. have a completely factory rebuilt engine. going to restore and sell it maybe. all in all now a bad tractor for no major maintence pulled on it.

Uh Oh my 411B has the COM selector on the right and the throttle on the left, If you start out in 4th it will slip,(normal) just give it the gas and it should take off, and after you reach close to full speed then shift the lever down into direct drive, when your ready to stop let off on the throttle push in the clutch changing automatically back to (COM) you will always start out in COM.

As I was sitting on the tractor, the throttle was on the left and the lever that I assume was the com was on the right and I couldn't get it to move. Then if this is not right, what would I be looking at. What would cause the lever not to move.

Maybe I'm mistaken on the location, but if the com lever dosn't move, the problem is most likely in the valve, It could be as simple as an o-ring or it could be more serious. Trace the linkage down and see if the valve is free.

Uhm, not stupid, but how about mixed up? My 411b has the converter shift on the left, and the throttle on the right. If the throttle is stuck but the foot throttle still works then the problem is just in the throttle linkage. When you start any com tractor they always start in com, so it is normal for it to slip, especially in 4th gear. If you pull down on the left handle it should go into direct drive, and if in 4th gear give you a good jerk or, maybe, kill the engine. Hope this helps. LOL!
