Just kinda curious what were the most common implements pulled by LA's back years ago. The other day I was talking with my brother inlaws grandfather who used to dryland wheat farm in Quinter KS. He was telling me about using LAs and pulling one way disks and Graham Hamey plows. I'm not sure what a Graham Hamey is exactly and would love to see som pics. Some day once my LA is up and running and lookin good I would like to come up with some vintage impliments that it would likly have pulled. Any imput would be great thanks

The Case LA was a great tractor, I owned one (1948 model) from 71to99,it gave little trouble, fuel consumtion was around 3 gallons+ per hour. Can send photos of this tractor working and copies of ads for LAs and also GH Plows,if you would like to email me.

fuel consumption per hour would be an added interesting subject, My 29 L doesn't run very long on 5 gals!

I just did a Google search for Graham Hoeme and learned that the first plows were built by Fred Hoeme and his sons at Hooker OK in 1933. In 1933, rights were sold to W.T. Graham who moved manufacturing to Amarillo TX.

3-16,s & a tandem disk with a drag behind it in northern Illinois. Don't remember the size of disc as it was over 60 years ago. Occasionally was hooked up to the hammermill for feed grinding. Think Dad just liked to hear it run. Chuck

Up to 1961, we pulled a 12 foot J.D. oneway or
a 12 foot Graham Hoeme and sometimes hitched a rod weeder behind that. Beginning that year, it was a 12 foot Krause tandem disk or the G.H. We could usually run in 3rd gear even with the G.H. and the rod weeder hookked together. I always hated having to hook the rod weeder on as I could never back the G.H. where I wanted it.

I drove a LA from 1948 to 1954, used a 3 X 16 Plow, the ground was so hard , the section of the farming community was called Hickory Ridge. In the fall the LA was used to pull Corn wagons from two working Corn pickers from the same field to the crib.

We pulled an 18 foot Alis Chalmers disc type turning plow with our LA. Dad would plow and I would come behind him on our SC with a 10 foot Case disc harrow and break it up for planting.

Hello Combine,I"m like you my "LA" is still in the works, not completed,I have put her to bed for the winter,in fact yesterday I was out to my farm and just had to look at her and her sister the "400".
Combine, here is a good tip I think,I have talked with a scrapguy, they go around and cutup iron for farmers that want to get rid of the iron.I told him I want "Case",he came in the other day and told me next year he will have anything I want.I plan on paying him the iron rate and maybe a tip too,so he stays interested as I plan on going into business with implements.Even here they are getting ground up for scrap.Good luck with your "LA" and hope someday to see it on here.Oh by the way,I spotted a "460"Case Combine, going to talk to that guy!

I used our LA to pull a 8 foot Oliver disk
and a home made tumbling harrow.
I was so small I had to put my feet againt the fenders and pull at the steering wheel to turn the tractor. Lots of good memories

Dryland farming in Sask. We used to pull a 15' massey #26 discer, or a 12' Cockshutt cultivator. Both are a good load but our LA had the oversize sleeves and pistons and handled it well.
