I've been a regualr reader of the YT classifieds for a long time but never participated in the discussion boards. This week I got a air cooled engine off a older Case combine and am trying to find out some information about them. Did Case build them, or are they a 4 cylinder in-line Wisc? One place in one of my engine bearing books they refer you to a line in the Wisconsin section, but I seem to have heard they were a case product. Any help out there???

If you go back far enough (1940-41 A-6's, galvanized tin and round gravity flow grain tanks) Wisconsin made an in-line four that Case used on these machines. Dad had one he bought in '41 and used into the 60's. He always said it was a much better engine than the VE and VF-4's. It would start when it was warm and just kept on going.

Case used this Vac motor with air-cooled heads and a blower on their early swathers, pull-type combines, balers and maybe a few other items.

They built an air cooled combine motor based on a Case VA engine. Jerry

Yes, they are Case built used in the A-6 combines. I was told they tended to overheat the middle cylinders.

I saw one once but it's disappeared. Anybody know the cubic inches and/or weight?

I was diagnosed locally with an incurable cancer and decided to go to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to find the latest treatments. Imagine my surprise when Mayo Clinic discovered I didn't have cancer at all! I have other issures, but not cancer. When undergoing follow-up tests at Mayo Clinic this last summer, an acquaintance told me he knew a local fellow who had a Case air cooled engine for sale. Needless to say, I looked at it and bought it. I didn't have the pickup, so was unable to bring it home. Can hardly wait. I'm like a little boy waiting for Santa. I'll be driving the pickup to Mayo in a couple of weeks and will pick up that engine. I'll be able to tell more about it once I get it home.
