No need to remove the hydraulic pump either. Just need to remove the hydraulic oil pickup hoses, and unscrew the two short nipples going into the side frames. Raise the loader bucket and block it from coming down by attaching an angle iron to one of the loader cylinder rods. Block up the transmission and loader frames near the bell housing. A floor jack works best for rolling the engine forward. Just put a couple of short 2" x 4" x 6" blocks between the front casting and front axle frame to keep the engine from tipping. When working for Case, another fellow and I could change the clutch on a 530/580 backhoe and have it out the door within 45 minutes. Of course, the backhoe was already steamed cleaned and all the parts were on hand.

I've been gone for a bit. Not sure how your enine job is coming. Mine was a gas enine, but the photos on my website also show teh scaffolding rig I used to take the old motor out and put the new one in.

how do you get it past cross bar on loader frame, this was removable on my 580B but not on the 530?

Raise the loader frame first..... in reply to ct farmer, 12-09-2006 09:12:37
The purpose of raising the loader (bucket) frame with the backhoe's hyrdaulics first is to provide room to move the engine forward. You'll need to raise it 6-8 feet. Just make sure the loader (bucket) frame is blocked UP by using an angle iron secured to one of the cylinder rods. The angle iron is a safety measure. You don't want the loader (bucket) frame to settle down or come down on you by accident.

I didn't mean the loader arms, I meant the main frame/ grille guard, but after going out and looking at it today (it's been a while, I see what you were saying. If I lift the center up high enough, I can slide the engine/ frt end out under it. Thank you, this is a lot easier than what I was proposing

thanks. I'm going to need to frt end back in and roll it out of shop when done, since this is a toy and I have other Working tractors to get in. I'll bring it back in once eng is ready to install
