I didn't used to think it made much difference, but I have become convinced that the cadmium coated Champions, D-21's or D-16's are harmful to a magneto. Best bet is non coated Autolite 3076 plugs at 0.30-0.32. There are some other non-coated, non-resistor, plugs on the market but I can't recall name or numbers.

I have been running the same set of Champion D21 plugs in my LA for 3 years now. It starts right up runs good and the Mag has no problems. You hit the starter and it fires on the first piston.

Walt

PS I use this tractor for farm use it runs quite a few hours around here pulling plows harrows and lately Christmas trees.

I run D-18Y champions inplace of D-16. the projected tip stays cleaner and there is less chance for the fouling you get with D
-21"s. Been running them since they took the lead out, with no trouble.
