Yeah! Thanks for the heads up! Too bad he's about 1K miles from me. Oh well....how about this '51 (with the right front hubs, wheels and tires) for $1,250? It's up and running with the Eagle hitch and all.(S/N 5555381)

What do you all think about the price and what could be the problem?

Well, he probably has $600 plus worth of implements with it. The wide front end assembly alone is worth $300. If you could get the whole thing for $1,400 to $1,600, it seems like a good deal. I'm just guessing, but perhaps the shifting linkage has came loose and the tractor is stuck in 4th. gear?

I believe that one is an early 51 due to the position of the lights. Remember the vac was changed mid 51. I wonder why the chain is laying over the front axle?

Nice tractor. I"ve got one just like it here but I do not believe that it can be a 1952. It is obviously 1949 and newer with the Eagle Hitch but late 1951 VAC"s went to the later styling.

It is possible that some one put an adjustable widefront on a VA or VAI but this one looks original.

Are the wide front VAC tractors any easier to steer? My dad's 1948 narrow front tractor has always required a good bit of effort to turn the wheel.

They steer easier than a single or narrow front (the VAO is in 500 lb. gorilla country when it comes to steering!) but with this modification you've got power steering DEluxe!

'Add 3 inches to steering arm as shown by white section. Make sure welds are first rate! This modification, along with a 17" steering wheel (some VAs had 15 inchers), will greatly reduce steering effort.'

I think they steer a bit easier especially the later ones with the tubular adjustable front that sets back underneath. The earlier I beam front end is much stronger but seems to have a bigger turning radius.

One of the drawbacks is trying to mount any of the front implements - can"t drive into them like with a narrow front.
