I have a 45 SC and the brake pads are stuck
to the spindles. Anyone know an easy way
to remove them?

Any help would be appreciated

Thank You.

What I do is tap all the way around on the disk plate between the lining and the splines with a small hammer. Apply penetrating oil to the splines and keep tapping till you see the disk move a little. Drive two flat screw drivers behind the disk at 180 degrees using gentle pressure. Add more penetrating oil and keep tapping till you can get major movement and pry it out with the two screw drivers. I have not damaged a disk using this method. My hammer has a contact area of about 5/8". DO NOT HIT THE SPLINES!!

What seemed to have caused the set that I had to stick was that the brake pads wore out and it allowed the brake disc to slide too far up on the shaft (went to the end of the splines). Prying in as many locations around the perimeter of the disc at the same time is good advice. I bent the disc a little, but was able to remove the old linings and straighten it with a hammer and a flat surface.

I've had the same problem. I had good luck lubricating the splines and putting a pry bar between the inner plate and the transmission housing. If you can put a little pressure on the plate at different places at a time and be patient it should finally work loose. Be careful not to damage the ring that the disc rivets to. Good luck.
