Just picked up one of these old gals today, motor is free fuel system is tight, it has been sitting about 10years. The reason it was parked was it had a bad rear main seal leak. I am ready to jump on this project but I thought I would ask some of you pros, what your approach to repair would be and if their is anything special I should look for. Any and all comments will be appreciated.

I am guessing this is not a six speed tractor, because six speeds did not have a rear seal since engine oil lubricated the clutch on them, you just had to remember to drain the clutch housing also when changing the oil.

Manuals are available from Case, you can also find one now & then on Ebay. On the left side of the tractor at the bottom of the clutch housing there is a plug to drain that oil when you drain the engine oil. When I overhauled mine you can see into the clutch housing when the pan is off of the engine. Is it leaking bad somewhere for you to think the rear seal is out? If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, I've got operators, parts & also factory service manuals here, can also take pic's of mine with digital camera & email them to you of areas of the tractor you may have questions about.

Roger, thank you so much for your kind offer! After reading your post, I looked at the pan, I think some one has put on the wrong pan gasket, it has a tab protruding out the side and it looks to me like the gasket should extend up the front of the bell housing. Is it posible that this was a gasket for a comfort king or some thing with a dry clutch? Again I would like the thank you for your help.
