My 1200 emergency brake works some of the time. I noticed that the handle has little flutes machined in it that I am assuming is what locks the brake on. What is inside the housing that the flutes locks on? And why would it work some of time? Is there any easy fix or is something completely worn out?

Also depends on which way you have the handle turned. The notches need to be lined up with the pawl for it to work.

When it does work, you have to turn the handle at like 2 o'clock for it to lock.

There is a pawl and spring in there, they get dirt and rust in and gum up. Take it apart clean up and put together with anti sieze grease and it will be as good as new again.
