HELP! Looking for 500 Diesel solenoid

Howdy and thanks for any help this might bring my way. I have a Case 500 diesel with a solenoid which has gone south on me. I have been trying to find a replacement but have not had any (good) luck and thought I would turn to the Case forum folks (smartest on the planet) and see if I could track a replacement down. The starter is an Auto-Lite MCO 4004 5J and the solenoid is an Auto-Lite WSM 4101A. I have enclosed a picture of both. My local Case dealer says they have no new part number for it and I went to the local Auto, Battery and Electric and tried a solenoid they thought might work and the cables got warm and the solenoid rolled some smoke. However, the tractor did not attempt to start. I am guessing it was not compatible. Any help out there? I am crossing my fingers!

I believe a Wilson SS68 is a direct replacement for the WSM 4101A. Quite a few Case tractors used that solenoid for a period of time.

I don't now where to buy new.
I have repaired a few solenoids. sometimes can flip the copper disc over to get a fresh surface or shim the posts so that they are closer to the disk. also have spliced the fine wire. Have never tried to rewind one where wire is cooked and shorted.
