Looking for advice on a 1969 930ck gas 8 speed tractor clutch. I have been having trouble shifting gears on this tractor. It seems to grind bad when trying to shift into gear. In order to shift I have to idle down to the point it almost kills. It is much worse when the tractor is warm and/or when it is in high range. The clutch is adjusted all the way according to the manual and has correct amount of free travel. Any tips before splitting/new clutch.

The clutch plate is probably warped.Alot of times when poeple put clutch's in these tractors they pull them together with the bolts.Don't do that.the clutch plate and presure plate spines are not lined up.put the compression bolts in presure plate if so equiped and put on shaft put clutch on it's shaft.roll together snug bolts.belive on not go through hand hole in left side of clutch housing install plate bolts and remove compression bolts.if your plate don't have compression bolts this will still work.

I think i miss guided you on the presure plate does not have the spines it has the pto shaft in the flywheel.but this still stands the same for installing the clutch.

Used to have a few 930s in the nieghborhood and they all were a little hard to shift. One of them is still around and the owner never waited for the gears to slow down. He just yanked on the shifter and let it grind till it went in gear. He's never touched the tranny. I always gave it a little time and gently pulled it in gear. Don't know of any transmission problems because of that.
