Was wondering if anyone knew whether or not they made a distributor conversion for a LA, to go from mag start to distributor??
Also have a heating problem and found that the radiator cores are plugged with mouse nests and leaves was wondering if anyone had a good solution to clean that out?? Also possibly looking for a propane head to if in good shape and price is right.

Why do you want to go to the Distributor when the mag is a lot better system it takes les care the points will last forever the spark is hotter they will fire when the engine is barely turning over and the cost for a new rebuilt one will cost about the same as converting it. Can't see any really good reason here to change over.
You couldn't pay me enough to get rid of my Bosch magneto.

wanted to switch it because i am making a pulling tractor out of it and thought that by putting on a distributor i would get advance through it and not have to manualy adjust it. Also thought that i could get a hotter spark, by adding an ignitor points system and a hotter coil.

Steve, The mag will give you a very hot spark mine can hold a good spark of over 1/2 in. when running. also when pulling you will run at full RPM all the way down so it doesn't matter if you have manual or centrifical advance.

I pull mine abd when setup right it will pull very strong just make sure that you get the timing setup correctly.

What I did was mark the top dead center on the front crankshaft pully then i measured the diameter it came out to be 12 in. devide this to get 30 degree from 360. It should 1 1/2 in. around the outer edge of the pulley. make a mark here 30 degrees before top dead center. Now to time it use a timing light and set the throttle at full and advance at full time it to the 30 degree mark. You will right on time. You can add a few degrees to this to test it to see if you loose power or gain power. Walt PS stick with the Mag you can't beat it for hot spark and good running. If the spark isn't Blue hot then it needs to be gone though have it done by an expert or you will be wasting your time and money. Mine was taken to some guy who charge the PO $80 to go though it. after I got the tractor the next week it was like no one had ever even looked at the mag had to take all apart and go though it myself.

Are there different types of mags?? If there is how do you tell the difference. Also when your mag is at full advance the lever will be pulled all the way towards the operator?? I am not really sure how the mag works or how the advance works. I am kind of a rookie and never been around mags to much.

I don't believe there is a distributor that will fit on the base mount on your LA. The flange mounts are often replaced with distributors, but have not seen a base mount. The base mount Case magnetos are pretty common and work very well, also the Bosch (and other)base mounts will work.
