VA Brake shaft grease seals

Tried replacing the brake shaft grease seals and saw in the manual that there is a sleeve tool to put over the splined brake disc shaft to protect the seal. Didn't have it, managed to cut the seals putting them on, and now the seals leak worse then before. Does anybody have the sleeve tool to lend/sell, or the diminsions so I can make one before I tear it apart and put new seals in again? (I hate re-work!)

Thanks, Dale O.

Where did you get the seals? Mine is leaking there, too...

Thanks,
Howard H.

Right from the Case/IH dealer, he had them in stock. I used a print-out of the VA seal cross-reference chart for the number to ask for that has been linked to several times on this list, but don't have the link at my finger tips, maybe someone knows where it is.

You can improvise using 2" wide thin fiberglass duct tape wrapped around and extending over the leading edge of only the splined section. Pregrease the shaft and seal diameter, slide the mounted seal/disc unit part way, then hold enough upward pressure on the shaft to finish sliding the disc carefully in place. Remove the duct tape

Thanks much!

From what I experienced the first time around, that sounds like it should work just fine!

I'm not looking forward to dealing with the grease that is going to pour out, though. :-)
